Wenzhou’s Semir Acquires Leading Kidswear Brand in Europe

On October 8, Zhejiang Semir Garment Co., Ltd., headquartered in Wenzhou, China, announced the completion of its acquisition of Kidiliz, a prominent kidswear group in Europe, for about 110 million euros, which is seen as the company’s firm step towards its internationalization and multi-brand strategy. After the acquisition, the core management of Kidiliz Group will remain to continue its management and operation of Kidiliz bands.

Kidiliz Group was founded in 1962 in the southern French town of Saint-Chamond by Roger Zannier and Josette and has been run by the Zannier family since then. After 56 years of development, Kidiliz Group has gradually grown into a forerunner in the European children’s clothing industry. At present, Kidiliz Group runs ten self-owned brands which have years of history and distinctive features, as well as 5 licensed fashion brands, offering clothing from medium end to high end and covering newborns to teens. The group is headquartered in Paris, France with 8 subsidiaries around the globe, 11,000 sales points and 829 stores, achieving a turnover of 427 million euros in 2017.

Semir and Kidiliz reached the acquisition agreement in May this year. Roger Zannier, founder of the group, hopes to find a best shareholder for Kidiliz because of his years of bond with the company. He was very impressed by Semir’s expansion in kidswear industry and its leading position in China’s kidswear industry as well as the prospect of the Chinese market. He believed the acquisition by Semir would benefit each other in the long run and help Kidiliz grow in the Chinese market.
