Jian Kiln, also known as Wuni, Jianyang and Shuiji Kiln, is one of 8 famous kilns in the Song Dynasty (A.D. 960-1279), and the birthplace of black glazed porcelains.

Jian Kiln is located in Houjin Village and Chizhong Village of Shuiji Town in Jianyang District, Nanping City, Fujian Province, covering an area of 126,000m2. Its history can date back to the Late Tang Dynasty (A.D. 755-763) or the Five Dynasties (907-960) and it prospered in the Song Dynasty and waned in late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty (A.D.1271-1285).

Jian Kiln is famed for black glazed small cups. The Kiln churned out world famous porcelains, including Black-glazed Small Cups with designs of Rabbit Hair Streaks, Francolinus Streaks and Flare streaks. Those with bottoms carved with Chinese Characters "For royal family" were used as tea cups in the palace in the Song Dynasty.  

The exhibition is jointly held by Wenzhou Museum and Nanping Jianyang District Museum with more than 100 pieces of ancient porcelains from the Song Dynasty and modern ones on display. Artistic beauty and stunning workmanship of porcelains, both modern and ancient, will tell visitors more about Jian Kiln in ways that facilitate to inherit, promote, develop and innovate traditional Chinese culture.
