This Friday on March 25, Dr. Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith, Executive-in-Residence at the University at Albany, State University of New York and former President Fort Valley State University, is going to give a lecture at Wenzhou-Kean University on the theme of the Dragon and the Hummingbird, Dynamics of Geo-Politics and Geo-Economics in the Caribbean.
The lecture will discuss China's presence in the Caribbean and its economic and foreign policy pursuits in the region as part of a broader dynamic global engagement. The geopolitical competition involves rivalry both with the United States and Taiwan, and it has witnessed the subordination of ideology to pragmatic national interest considerations, including enhancement of its markets.
The Global Lecture Series held by Wenzhou-Kean University irregularly is to invite scholars and experts of great international fame and academic achievement around the world to give lectures on different subjects for the purpose of broadening the students’ international horizon. Last October, Patrick Mendis, a Rajawali senior fellow at the Kennedy School of Government's Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University, was invited to speak on Sino-US relations, the Chinese dream and American destiny.
