Yesterday, Paris-headquartered Bureau Veritas Group established a joint venture called Bureau Veritas Shen’ou Quality Technical Service (Wenzhou) Co., Ltd. with the Comprehensive Technical Center of Wenzhou Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau and Zhejiang Lead Product Technic Co., Ltd. to offer laboratory testing on footwear and textile products in Wenzhou and surrounding areas. In the future, Wenzhou’s shoes exporters can have their products tested locally with globally-recognized certifications.
Bureau Veritas Group, a reputed third-party inspection company in the world with advanced footwear testing techniques and qualifications as well as stable marketing channels, has been maintaining close business relationships with many large-scale footwear retailers in the U.S. and Europe, and a testing report issued by Bureau Veritas has been a global pass for shoes export. Since 2010, Wenzhou Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau has started working with Bureau Veritas. After years of cooperation, Bureau Veritas Shen’ou, a joint venture, is established to deepen the relationship between both parties.
“Our laboratories have an area of more than 1,500 square meters, and we have invested over 10 million Yuan on testing equipment.” Said by Li Jianming, chairman of Bureau Veritas Shen’ou. Previously, the laboratories in Wenzhou could only conduct some tests, but now all tests can be completed locally. In addition, Bureau Veritas Shen’ou has built two laboratories specially for the European and US standards.
Footwear is a backbone industry in Wenzhou and shoes export takes up the biggest share among the city’s exports. There are more than 1,400 shoes manufacturers in Wenzhou. In 2013, the export of shoes totals USD 5 billion, accounting for half of Wenzhou’s total export. Every year, shoes exporters in Wenzhou spend 50 million Yuan on shoes testing. In recent years, the US and European countries have made tougher testing requirements on the shoes made in China, and thus the shoes testing market continues growing. The establishment of Bureau Veritas brings great benefits to Wenzhou’s shoes exporters and helps them save the testing time and cutting down the testing cost.
